According to Islamic historical documents, indigenous people of Kashgar, rather than Turkic people, resisted the conversion of faith at the hands of the Qarakhanids. Soon afterwards, the Khotans organized an uprising against Islam and four imams were martyred. However, Yusuf Qadr Khan returned from the battle with Ghaznavid forces and extinguished the rebellion. Khotan was then absorbed into the Qarakhanid territory and all were converted once again according to the Islamic faith.
