Over the day small groups of reinforcements arrived (also from Raymond, Hugh and Godfrey), some killed by Turks, others trying to fight to reach Bohemund's camp. Since the Crusaders had lost all their horses, the Turks became aggressive and the Crusaders were forced to retreat from the swampy riverbank into the shallow waters. However, the Crusaders still held and after about 7 hours of fighting, the Knights of Raymond arrived (not sure whether Raymond was with them, or whether they had arrived before him), they played a surprise attack on the flank of the Turkish army and made the Turks become confused and allowed the Crusaders to regroup.
